Metropolitan Affordable Housing ACCESS Programs

The focus areas of resident services include meeting basic needs such as food and nutrition, support services like parenting classes and positive youth activities, and workshops with a focus on career counseling and financial education that promote opportunities for personal and economic growth and independence. All programs are free to residents. Not all programs are available at all properties. Call each property for more information.
Extra Helping A resident-run program providing free food throughout the month like bread and seasonal vegetables. Offered in collaboration with Food for Lane County.
Summer Lunch Children receive a free nutritious meal five days a week during the summer months. This program is offered in collaboration with Food for Lane County and is sponsored by USDA.
Shopping Matters/Cooking Matters Shopping Matters, will teach you how to shop with a strategy, buy on a budget, read food labels & identify whole grains. $10 gift cards will be provided to you for this activity, and the food purchased is yours to keep. Cooking Matters is a 6 week class that focuses on cooking healthy food that is offered in collaboration with Food For Lane County.
Super Snackers This fun class teaches children to prepare healthy snacks and provides hands on experience, food preparation, and snacks. Offered in collaboration with the OSU Extension Service.
Kids Club Youth programs offering arts and crafts, games, fun outdoor activities, homework and reading assistance to children five and up. Metro staff and volunteers support this program.
The Rising Star Program A positive behavior incentive program for children. Children are nominated for performing good deeds at home and in the community and earn Star Points . Star Points are redeemed at the Rising Star stores for fun prizes and incentives. Rising Star Stores are located at each of the communities.
12 Step Meetings Confidential programs help individuals maintain a drug and alcohol free lifestyle.
Community Celebrations Community celebrations include food, fun and opportunities to get to know one another. Events range each year and have included Bingo Night, Movie Nights and Ice Cream Socials.
Relief Nursery and Head Start The Relief Nursery and Head Start offer programs within The Park at Emerald Village community center. Residents contact these programs directly and services are provided onsite.
Goodwill Dreams & Donuts Representatives from the Goodwill Prosperity Center will help you get started on the path to achieving your dreams: Get a job, or a better job, receive financial assistance, learn educational and training resources, access to community resources to achieve success.
Eugene Library Make A Book Take A Book Come and make a book! Staff member from the Eugene Library will be on hand to read to kids, and share knowledge about how to turn your child into a great reader. At the end, your child will be able to take home a book of their choice.
Money Matters A first step towards the ABC’s of Home buying Class and Individual Development Accounts. Prepare for home ownership, discuss credit, and explore an opportunity for people to earn a match for savings toward the purchase of a home, business, or education. Sponsored by NEDCO.
Job Skills Training Free Services for Job Seekers include Resume Development, Career Counseling, Interview Preparation, and Educational Resources. Offered in collaboration with Goodwill Industries.
Individual Referrals Resident Services Coordinators are available during office hours or by appointment to help refer you to resources in the community and increase your access to social services.
Teen Chef A Hands-On One-of-a-Kind experience hanging out at a farm and cooking dinner. (Farm to Table!) Meet at Food for Lane County’s Youth Farm, tour & volunteer. Be rewarded with farm-fresh produce. We take our produce and meet with OSU staff to cook an entire dinner. Other activities may be offered instead of the farm visit, depending on the weather and accessibility.
Community Centers Computer Centers are open to all residents. Check out the Lending Library, access the internet on the computer, or reserve the room for an event. Community Gardens We offer opportunities for residents to learn the basics of growing and maintaining a vegetable garden. Residents are able to plant, water, grow, harvest and enjoy the fruits of their labors.
