July 2008, Metro Receives Grants The Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation awarded Metro a one-year grant in the amout of $9,121 to fund a part-time youth coordinator position for our resident services program. In addition, The Collins Foundation awarded Metro a $25,000 grant to strengthen Metro's organizational capacity to develop future affordable housing and help to address a critical unmet need in the Eugene/Springfield area.
June 2008, Prairie View Groundbreaking Metropolitan Affordable Housing celebrated the groundbreaking of our newest affordable housing community, Prairie View, on June 10th, 2008. The Mayor, several elected officials, representatives from the City and County, development team members, and funding partners all gathered to celebrate the addition of 64 high quality and attractive affordable housing units in the underserved area of west Eugene. May 2008, WestTown on 8th Progress The City and County have completed the new 8th Avenue Street (including street, sidewalks and plantings) between Charnelton and Lincoln. All of the south tower residential units are rented and the podium walls, walks and planters are nearly finished.
April 2008, WestTown on 8th Progress Siding, windows, and store fronts are complete. Elevators are fully functionable and the live/work units are within days of completion. Electric and plumbing is finished in the south tower units and the north tower units are nearly complete.
January 2008, WestTown on 8th Progress Except for exterior paint and balconies, the north tower shell is completed. Windows and siding are about 65% complete. Live/work store fronts are almost complete and the loft floors are installed.

December 2007, WestTown on 8th Progress WestTown on 8th is taking final shape and all floors are at finished height. The crane is gone, stairwells are being poured, elevator parts are on site, and construction activity now shifts to a race to finish the interiors of the community.
November 2007, New Board Members The following was posted in the Register Guard's Business section on November 15th: Philip Farrington, director of land use planning and development for PeaceHealth Oregon Region, and Mandy Jones, CEO of Oregon Community Credit Union, have been named to the board of Metropolitan Affordable Housing Corporation, a nonprofit organization in Eugene. New board members Elizabeth Nichols, a retired volunteer, and Tenisha Te’o, a single mother of three who works at Oregon Medical Laboratories, will represent residents of Metro’s affordable housing communities.
November 2007, Metro Awarded Federal Tax Credits Metropolitan Affordable Housing Corporation received final approval of federal tax credits from Oregon Housing and Community Services, allowing the Eugene-based nonprofit to move forward on construction of the planned 64-unit Prairie View affordable housing project in Danebo.
